Also know as root canal therapy, this treatment is performed on teeth with either heavy decay or trauma that has affected the nerve of the tooth.  By removing the nerve, a root canal is able to get a person out of pain without having to have the tooth removed. In most cases after a root canal is completed, a crown is needed to placed over the tooth.
